What is snowflake obsidian?
Like all forms of obsidian, Snowflake obsidian is a type of volcanic glass that forms when molten rock cools very quickly.  The "snowflake" patterns are created when small crystals of cristobalite (a type of quartz) form within the obsidian! Pretty cool right?
